(voice test post for 9s, taking him from the end of route b. all prompts are assuming he's in some sort of game and has seen humans before so i can avoid any threads with possible humans all going the same way.)

[ So 9S is in ... a shopping mall. And while those may only be relatively exciting for most humans, to an android like him, it's extra amazing. To the point where he can't hide how interested he is in everything.

And right now, he's peering in at the T-shirts on display in the glass window of a store.

When suddenly his pod speaks up. ]

Analysis: Unit 9S will require human currency for the exchange of goods.

[ Good job, Pod 153, you've stated the obvious. 9S sounds a little annoyed and offended at the implication that he's not aware of that. Of course he's aware of it. ]

I know that. [ Changing the subject a little. ] You think 2B would like one?

[ Because he'll get one for her. Or bring her here. Or anything!! ]

[ ... Of course it is. ]

[ Have you ever seen someone so interested in the night? No, probably not. It's not even a particularly dazzling night — it's just a normal, partly cloudy night. But everything is dark, and the moon is half visible, and you can see some of the stars, and — wow. 9S has never seen what the night looks like on Earth, considering the sun never leaves the sky where he's from. He'd thought that when it was night, it looked like the scenery from the Bunker windows, but — this is a little different. There's the moon up there in one of its phases, and clouds, and not all of the stars are visible.

It just has a different feeling.

So, while looking up at the sky, he gives the order to his pod. ]

Pod, I need you to take a picture of this.

[ It's ... winter?? Or at least very cold — cold enough for the ground to have frozen over. Which, while 9S has read records on this sort of thing, he's never experienced it. It kind of super sucks, actually. It makes it way too hard to move around and if there were machines around here, he'd be totally screwed (he's not a fighter in the first place!!).

So he looks like an idiot trying not to fall on the ice, because he's already experienced it a few times so far and he's not looking to experience it again.

Until it happens. Again. And he's sitting on the ice, totally and completely Not Here for this. Even if it is valuable data, it's annoying. ]

Man, this is such a pain. How did humans live in these sorts of conditions?

Too many choices for you to decide, huh? [ 2B's always seemed to be pretty simple in her desires (if she even has any, god it's hard to tell sometimes). So it's not surprising she doesn't seem to have any preferences yet.

Mmmnn, he glances around the area again, before pointing to a relatively colorful store. ]

Say, 2B, how about that one?

[ You can't blame him for being interested in the colorful clothing when their world is totally devoid of that. ]

[It's... definitely not something she's used to seeing. A lot of the androids wore more than just black and white compared to them at least, but she didn't even know all these colors existed until now, let alone as clothing.]

[ 9S wasn't aware a lot of these colors were possible either. They're almost blinding, but maybe trying something new would be good??

He gives a nod in response, starting towards the store with her. ]

Make sure to say something if you see one you like. [ Because he's not sure if he can trust her to do that without being reminded to do it. ] Unless you want me to just pick out everything for you.

[ Which he also has no problem doing. But if there's something she likes, he'd rather her speak up about it!! ]

[Can you really, 2B.... She wouldn't mind if he picked the clothes for her, but it doesn't feel fair to him. He should find something he likes first, and she can do something as simple as pick a shirt!

But it may take a while if there's this much to choose from. [T-shirts, button-ups, blouses, tank tops... What's even the purpose of having so many different types??]

[ Little does she realize, he's happier picking out clothing for her than himself. ]

[Not that she'd be much help probably... But she knows that, and she assumes he does too. In any case, she starts perusing through the colorful collection of clothes, and eventually finds this.]

Oh god, 2B, please excuse his small bout of laughter at that. He doesn't hate it, but he thinks it's weirdly adorable that this is what she'd gravitate to. ]

[ There are so many types of clothing and she goes for the fish shirt. ]

[She says it as coolly and as detached as she says anything else. Emotions are prohibited, after all. Why would she show emotion over something as simple as a t-shirt?

But if it sounds like she could be pouting. She definitely isn't, just so you know.

[SHE'S ONTO YOU, 9S... Or maybe she's just teasing. Or maybe neither! It can be hard to tell with 2B.

She turns back to the clothes rack, peering closely with what seems like renewed interest, although it's mostly to hide the fact that she has the tiniest, smallest smile. So maybe it's not so hard to tell with her.]

Have you seen anything that interests you yet?

[ He's unsure of what she means by that at first, but her turning away like that is a little suspect. 2B tends to be easier to read than she realizes.

But 9S realizes that he hasn't even been focused on himself yet. Everything he's looked at has been with 2B in mind. Whoops. ]

Oh, um, not yet! [ A small pause, because this is worth a try. ] What do you think would look good on me, 2B?

[Look, it's hard to be dishonest when you're programmed to be sincere!! Hiding is about the best she can do.

She's a little surprised 9S is trusting her to pick something out for him given he questioned her (great) taste in fish shirts. But okay, she'll try to pick something nice for him!]

What about this? [She pulls out a dress shirt. At least it's pretty colorful, right?]

[ Honestly even if she picked out something weird, he'd love it because she picked it. He's actually a little surprised she picks something at all.

And it's .. well, it's interesting. Definitely more colorful than he's used to, but he likes that about it. ]

Wow, that's ... actually pretty cool looking.

[ It's certainly a step up from the fish thing. ]

[She's pretty pleased that he likes what she picked out, even if it doesn't show. 9S tastes are probably a lot different from hers, after all. (More like he actually has tastes, but y'know.)]

[ THEIR FIRST TIME TRYING ON HUMAN STORE CLOTHES. It should be a shared experience, clearly. ]

Alright. [looking around...] It looks like there're rooms meant for changing clothes over there.

[Or they could just have their pods pull out curtains for them, but if they're trying this out, they might as well do it the human way.]

[ Right, doing it the human way is much more interesting. And it'll give him a chance to experience even more new things. Things he's always been curious about.

So he'll take that shirt she showed him and nod. ] Yeah! Then come on, 2B, let's go!

[ AND OFF HE GOES in the direction of the changing rooms. With some pep in his step. ]

[THAT WAS FAST would've been faster if i didn't lose this tag, but she's not surprised in the least. It works out for the best that he takes off actually as she can't fight the smile that makes its way to her lips. She's glad that he seems to be having so much fun.

But she's right behind him in making her way to the changing area, albeit walking at a much more normal pace in comparison.]

It looks like the rooms are separated between males and females. [It reminds her of Pascal actually... So humans really did care about their privacy!]

Yeah, looks like it. Guess this is where we split up, then, huh? [ 9S this isn't a mission you're just trying shirts on. You'll see her again in like 30 seconds. ]

[Yeah 9S, don't worry, it's not like in the time they're separated she'll contract the logic virus and asked to be put down by A2 while he has no choice but to watch or anything.

It won't be like that at all!]

It'll be quick. [And with that she heads to her side of the changing rooms. After all, the fast they change, the sooner they won't be split up.]

[ YEAH NOTHING LIKE THAT WILL HAPPEN AT ALL.

But he gives a nod to her statement and then goes off into his own dressing room. He'll reappear soon after wearing that wonderful shirt she picked out for him, rather eager to show her it kjhsdg ...

(Though he's more excited to see what she looks like.) ]

[There she is... in all her fish t-shirt glory... And no pants since, well, she doesn't have any. It's a good thing she has her leotard, but if there's anyone else nearby, they're probably staring.

But there's 9S, and...! Just like she hoped, he looks nice in it. She's more surprised that she managed to pick something that actually worked for him tbh.]

Her fish shirt is still a bit odd of a choice, but he supports it nonetheless, and he actually thinks she ... looks super cute in it. But that may mostly be because she's attractive and someone as cute as her in a t-shirt and leotard is A+. ]

All thanks to you. [ For picking it out, and all. ] You're looking good yourself. It looks pretty comfortable.

[ Probably a lot more comfortable than her usual outfit. ]

[She looks down at herself, considering. Is it comfortable? As she folds her arms, she thinks there's less that gets in her way, if nothing else.]

I suppose so. It'd be easy to move around like this.

[Not that it's hard to move around in her usual clothes of course, but considering the simplicity of her outfit right now, she can't help but notice the amount of consideration for design that's put into the YoRHa uniforms. Although given the kind of shirt she got for 9S, she wonders if his is better or worse for that.]
