[ So it's been some odd months since Yayoi's learned how to fight the forces of evil, and by forces of evil, we mean everyday objects that get evil clown noses and try to wreak havoc.

Which is still a problem, but the point is that Yayoi's fought forces of evil before!

But that was one force of evil, and what she's facing now are little black things that make absolutely no sound that keep chasing after her, and all because she'd forgotten her sketchbook in class.

Or so she's assuming, because there sure are a bunch of them twitching after her in the hallway of her middle school now. ]

J-just stay away!!

[ It's okay, it's not because she left her sketchbook in class.

But it's a good thing Sora's here at the right time, then. As he tends to be. He hears her shout, and while he's hoping he'll find his friends somewhere around here, he can't just ignore someone who's in trouble in his vicinity. So he immediately perks up, before rushing to the source of the scream.

And once he finds her — ] Heartless! Don't worry, I'll take care of 'em!

[ And with that, he moves in to take them out with his Keyblade — they're weaker Heartless, so it's not much of an issue for him. But they could mean there are stronger ones around here, too, and that's ... not good. ]

[thunderp]

[ Heartless? What on earth is that?? And is that some sort of... giant key??

Yayoi should probably not be wondering these questions until later, but considering she can't really do much (obviously she can't transform right now when she has no idea who this person even is), she has to settle for hugging her sketchbook close and nodding as she shrinks back.

[ Transform all you want, lady, he'll probably think it's cool —

She seems pretty reserved, though, and he's worried about her after all that commotion and Heartless, so once he's sure there aren't any more in the immediate vicinity, he makes his way over to her, looking her over. ]

Hey, are you okay? You're not hurt, are you?

[ He's genuinely worried. ]

[thunderp]

[ It's both because he's worried and he just wiped the floor with the weird black things that gives Yayoi enough courage to...

... squeak.

... And then try again, oops. ]

I-I'm okay... I was just scared.

[ CONSIDERING SHE LOOKS TO BE ON THE VERGE OF TEARS ]

[ Oh gosh oh gosh, don't cry ...

He quickly puts his hands out in a gesture that says 'please don't cry', and also he looks like he's not sure what to do about the possibility of tears but he's still worried anyway. ]

It's okay, it's safe now! [ Bringing his hands back and crossing them, thinking. ] But ... maaaybe you should stick by me for a while.

[ He ... can't leave her alone with Heartless around in good faith. ]

[ Look, Yayoi is a Very Sensitive Soul. But she'll slowly nod, because-- well, being by herself right now just seems like a bad idea. ]

O... okay. Are you a hero?

[ Yayoi, that's not something you just ask a person. ]

[ Oh no, Yayoi, you're appealing to his teenage boy need to be Cool by asking him that. The fact that she's asking it must mean he seems like one to her, right? This is the kid who got excited about pirates and joked about becoming a king.

And he places a hand behind his head. ] Uh, well ... [ Boy does the childish part of him want to say yes.

Buuut this makes him remember. ] I guess you could say I'm more like a junior hero. [ Phil ... he knows you have to acknowledge him someday ...!!

At least with this, he's still able to claim he's some sort of hero and be sort of cool. ]

... A junior hero. [ Huh. She's never heard that one before, but if he's talking about age... maybe that's what the Precure should be introducing themselves as, instead of "legendary warriors"... ]

But, um, you still fight the forces of darkness, right?

[ THAT'S APPARENTLY WHAT WE'RE CALLING THEM NOW ]

[ HE CAN GO WITH THAT ... ]

Do you mean the Heartless? [ Well he fights a lot more than just the Heartless — Nobodies and a whole array of Bad People — but keeping this simple is easier anyway. And hopefully the Heartless are the only thing she needs to worry about right now. ]

Yeah, I fight them all the time.

[thunderp]

... Then I'll trust you. I don't think any kind of hero could ever be bad.

[ At least she sounds a lot more confident?? YAYOI REALLY LIKES HEROES APPARENTLY. ]

[ Oh no, he's so glad ... He gives her a big smile in response to that.

HE'S OKAY WITH THIS BEING SEEN AS A HERO STUFF. And he moves a finger to scratch under his nose, embarrassed just a little, but also happy too. From her kindness, her trust, and her mood switching to something more positive. ]

Thanks. Don't worry, those Heartless won't lay a hand on you. I'll make sure of it!

[ He's confident he can do that, too! Okay!! ]

The Heartless... [ ugh, what a name. ] What are they?

[ And why are they even here in the first place? ]

[ Mmnn, well Sora isn't the type to lie, and there's no point in keeping things from her, either, so. ]

They're ... creatures, born from the darkness in people's hearts. You don't wanna get too close to them, okay? [ He doesn't want them to harm her heart, or anything.

Though he's sure she probably won't try to get close to them anyway. ]

The darkness... in people's hearts.

[ Well no, that doesn't sound like something she wants to touch. ]

So how do you fi--

[ hold that thought, Yayoi, that sure was a crash down the hall. ]

[ Yep, so he basically is fighting the forces of darkness.

But at that crash from down the hall, he immediately jumps to turn in its direction, readying his Keyblade in his hands. ]

That's gotta be more Heartless! [ He turns towards her. ] C'mon!

[ While he knows danger is in that direction, he also doesn't want to leave her alone if Heartless are coming around the area more now.

And he rushes to run off to the source of the noise. ]

[thunderp]

[ As expected of a hero, honestly. Yayoi's nodding quickly and running after him-- and immediately freezing up because the source of the noise is way too many Heartless. ]

A-aren't there too many to be fair?!

[heartkey]

[ He looks around, scanning the number of enemies here. He's fought way, way more, so the number isn't that daunting to him — his only concern is making sure none of them reach his new friend.

And he instinctively holds his arm up, as a way of putting a block between her and the Heartless.

Then he half turns his head back to her, his expression not really showing a hint of concern. ]

Nah, I've fought more. [ And then he turns his head back toward the Heartless. ] Just stand back, okay?

[thunderp]

... [ Instinctively, she's already got a hand on the arm he put in front of her, like she's not down with this. ]

I... are you really sure you'll be okay?

[ He looks confident, but it's not the easiest thing watching your new friend you just met two minutes ago charge off into battle on his own.

And she could help, she knows, but if she gives away that secret... DILEMMAS. ]

[heartkey]

[ —O-Oh. He glances back towards her then, treating her hand being there as something that's holding him back from starting to fight.

And he gives her a hopefully reassuring nod. ] Yeah, positive. [ He's really not scared! See? ]

Besides, we don't have any other choice, do we?

[ They can't run, considering that'd just leave the Heartless to either chase them or attack someone else. And his friends aren't here to help fight, so he's got to go this alone, right? No choice, but he's not complaining. ]

[thunderp]

[ ... When in times of trouble, Yayoi just has to think: What Would Miyuki Do?

The answer, unfortunately, is probably transform immediately and run screaming about spirit into a horde of darkness with arms windmilling. Yayoi's not that reckless or foolhardy, but after everything...

She finally takes a deep breath, ignore the trembling of her fingers please. ]

I-- I'll fight with you.

[ It's kind of hard to ignore the trembling in her fingers — or anything else he's learned about her personality since he's met her. So those words are naturally very concerning to hear from her.

And his previously calm expression turns to one of concern for her safety. ]

No way, it's too dangerous! Weren't you just running from them a minute ago?

[ Sorry, he's seen no evidence that she could handle something like that — he's only really seen the opposite ...

He's normally pretty open to letting people do things for themselves and fight, but none of those people have ever been as reserved and afraid as she's been. ]

B-because I-- [ okay look she's a wimp and a crybaby who just happens to love bugs and ghosts and giant robots and heroes so she's also sort of weird, but--

Okay no Sora has a valid point, but!!!!! ]

[ She'll at least let go of Sora's arm before the whole magical golden light happens, knocking a good chunk of the Heartless away.

Also this, although thankfully what actually happens will go largely unseen because of the aforementioned light. ]

[ And there she is, looking at least a little more competent. Cure Peace, the mighty. ]

[ Did she really just transform instead of convincing Sora with calm and logical reasoning, yes she did. Sometimes it's better not to waste time. ]

[ He's about ready to keep arguing that it's a bad idea for her, when suddenly the bright light happens and he's shielding his eyes with his arm. When he opens his eyes again, he notices many of the Heartless knocked back, as well as ... her new look??

Oh man he's not entirely sure of what just happened but ... ]

Whoa, was that some kinda transformation?! You can do that?!

[ IT'S COOL SO REGARDLESS OF WHAT JUST HAPPENED HE THINKS HE LIKES IT. ]
