Going against him in practice is still going to be easier than Heartless coming at her to purposely hurt or kill.
Still, it's instinctive, watching that slower movement and raising her own blade to attempt to parry it and knock Sora's Keyblade back. One of her feet steps back in the process as if to steady herself in the movement and effort to push him back]

[But she gets it. He's trying to be slower in helping her have the time to react, probably intending to work up to moving faster as she practices.]
